Brewin Dolphin Regional U16 Plate games between East Lothian and Borders Schools.
Musselburgh Grammar and Earlston HS U16's after their match at Pinkie Playing fields
The Brewin Dolphin U16 plate competition kicked off recently with some East Lothian school teams taking on some strong teams from the Borders in the regional plate fixtures. Knox Academy travelled down to Kelso High School and although they lost, they put up a good fight against the strong Kelso outfit.
In another fixture, North Berwick High School was edged out by Jedburgh High School in a very exciting game. The final score of 51-40 reflects the nature of the open, free running game in which defences seemed to take a back seat on the day for all out attack.
Preston Lodge went down 38-5 to Gala Academy in a very physical and hard fought encounter. The score perhaps not a reflection of the great effort put in by the Preston Lodge boys on the day.
Musselburgh Grammar put in a brave performance against a classy Earlston HS team that had much more experience throughout their team. It was the first game of the season for the Musselburgh squad and they showed good potential up front where they matched Earlston in the scrums and at the breakdown. Although they lost, the Musselburgh team did their school proud.
