North Berwick are East Lothian High School Champions in Swimming
Thursday 23rd April saw the 6 East Lothian High Schools come together for the first time and compete to become EL High School Champions.
The teams comprised of S1-S3 pupils, a mixture of competitive and non-club swimmers. A number of individual events over all four strokes and an Individual Medley featured in the programme, with the relay events adding to the excitement.
This event was fairly relaxed with points being given for finishing order in each race.
The morning began with a demonstration by Corrie Scott (Bronze medallist in the 50m Breaststroke at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games) giving swimmers the opportunity to observe whilst ELST Head Coach Bruce Halloran provided commentary on the technical aspects of her stroke. Corrie joined in the fun by racing against 5 East Lothian swimmers in a 100m IM. The race was interesting until the Breaststroke where Corrie streaked ahead!
Corrie also provided a Question and Answer session, allowing the pupils to hear about her training regime and experiences.
Throughout the races Duncan McKinnell provided excellent commentary, adding to the excitement of the event.
The level of swimming was fantastic and the swimmers demonstrated team spirit, supporting one another in every race.
Presentations began with each swimmer receiving a participation medal from Corrie Scott.
