Ross High Sport Round Up

The last week at Ross High School has been a very busy sporting week.  With netball, football, rugby and hockey all playing their part in the sporting calendar.

The week began with the Ross Netball teams defeating both Dunbar GS and North Berwick HS.  Under Miss Andersons stewardship the team has won the majority of their matches. #RossNetball

One of the few casualties this week, were the Ross Football 18s team.  Playing in the SSFA Scottish Shield, they were defeated by Peniculk HS five goals to two.  Mr Baird and Mr Watters now have the team focusing on their league and league cup matches.  #RossFootball

The Ross Football 16s won their Scottish Shield tie by default as Craigmount HS withdraw from the competition.  Mr Leslie hopes that this will spur the players commitment to the team, and make greater efforts to attend. #RossFootball

The Ross Football 13’s were also defeated in their recent league match.  Though three goals to nil down at half time, they brought themselves back from the brink to draw three all, before finally conceding the winner and finishing four goals to three.  Mr Sands was extremely proud of the lads, and is sure they can win matches with such a gutsy performance. #RossFootball

The Ross Football 14s head to Meadowbank to play James Gillespies in their Scottish Shield tie today (Monday).  Mr McBeth and Mr Grey have a great squad, and hope they will play to their potential.  #RossFootball

The Ross Rugby teams hosted Knox Academy on Saturday.  The S1’s showed that they have worked hard over the last few weeks, as their performance was much improved.  Playing some excellent running rugby, making full use of everyone in the team.  Winning by an excellent score of twenty points to six.  It is worth noting that Knox Academy also played very well, and showed some great potential.  #RossRugby

The S2 and S3 Rugby squads came together as Knox were unable to field two teams.  That said, a very flowing game resulted, and the referee struggled to keep up with the score.  At the last count, the final result was 56 points to 36 in Ross High Rugby’s favour.  #RossRugby

Ross Rugby 18s have merged with Portobello Rugby 18s, and sadly lost twenty points to eight on Saturday to a much improved Lasswade side.  The team is obviously going through a tough time, and the lads are doing well to keep things going.  #RossRugby #ToughTeam

Ross Hockey also ventured out on Saturday.  With three teams playing against Preston Lodge HS.

The Seniors were defeated four goals to five, but displayed how much time and effort they are putting in at practice, as the performance was much improved from the reverse fixture earlier in the season.  #RossHockey

Both the Hockey 15s and 13s played and won on Saturday as well.  Miss Protheroe and Miss Bennett can be very proud of their charges efforts and attitude.  #RossHockey

Rounding off an excellent sporting week.

This weekend brings Ross Rugby fixtures against Boroughmuir HS for the 16’s, 15’s, 14’s and 13’s.  The Ross Hockey 18s play Watsonians Ladies 2’s and the Ross Football 14’s prepare to meet North Berwick.
