The League was formed in 1975 and organises competitions for Junior golfers (boys and girls) who are members of Golf Clubs in East Lothian which have Junior sections.  

League Matches are held on "Match Days", and the venues of each "Match Day” are rotated around the Courses involved. Currently there are 6 players in each Team, playing in pairs in a four ball better ball format. The first Game is a scratch game, and the other two Games are off handicap.

The League also organises other annual events, including the Team Strokeplay, the Team County Cup, and an Individual Championship event, the last of which is traditionally supported by East Lothian Council. The Championship has many prizes for both Boys and Girls, in various age groups.

The League also arranges some coaching opportunities, friendly matches, Pro-Ams, rules quizzes etc.
