East Lothian Yacht Club (ELYC) was formed in 1928 and now has over 500 members, 120 of whom are aged between 8 and 16 and almost all of whom have joined through the club’s extensive training programmes. Our clubhouse is a picturesque listed building which was extensively refurbished in 2003 with the assistance of grant aid at a cost of over £300,000.
We sail on the sea in the Firth of Forth, with the impressive Bass Rock as a backdrop and like most sailing clubs we run dinghy and keelboat racing for our members. In addition, as a result of hard work over a sustained period, ELYC has acquired a UK wide reputation for hosting national sailing championships. Further, we have an extensive training programme designed to introduce both young people and adults to the sport.
