There are several great ways to get involved in junior cricket acros East Lothian. There are now three clubs in East Lothian offering weekly sessions for juniors starting with soft ball sessions for children as young as 5 all the way through to 15 year olds developing their skills with a hard ball and moving into senior and representative cricket.
All Stars Cricket is a great new initiative aimed at providing boys and girls aged 5 to 8 with a great first experience of the game. Every child that registers receives a back pack full of personalised cricket goodies and gets the opportunity to develop their skills over an eight week programme with an emphasis on fun, fast pacd and exciting games.
Kwik Cricket is played with plastic bats and balls with adapted rules to make it a fun, fast and safe version of the game. It is played with a soft ball and is a great bridge to developing skills in a safe environment getting children ready to take the next step up to hard ball practice, if they want to. Clubs in East Lothian take turns hosting Kwik Cricket festivals, mostly on Sunday mornings, where our clubs play against each other.
East Lothian County Cricket and Dunbar CC also offer junior hardball cricket for boys and girls looking to move beyond soft ball cricket please see their club pages for details or contact eastlothiancricket@gmail.com
