Held at the Duke’s Course St Andrews Sunday 26th September
Alfred Dunhill Schools’ Challenge, was played on the Duke’s Course at St Andrews on Sunday 26th September 2021.
The annual event, which is open to school-aged boys and girls across Scotland, precedes the 20th Anniversary of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which takes place from September 30 – October 3 at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and the Old Course St Andrews.
89 pupils took part including 12 pupils from East Lothian. Congratulations to Andrew Hendry (North Bewick HS) who was beaten into a very close 2nd place in the Scratch Division by 1 shot with a 73.
Ryan Gallagher (PLHS) and Joe MacPherson (NHBS) were not far behind with 75's taking 6th and 7th place respectively.
Louise Martin, (S2 NBHS), won the Junior Girls competition with a net score of 72.
Frankie Moore (Knox) came in 4th overall in the Handicap Division with net 64 which was only 3 behind the winner.
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is an annual celebration of links golf which attracts leading professional golfers playing alongside famous names from the world of sport and show business. This year the professional field includes Tommy Fleetwood, Tony Finau, Billy Horschel, Tyrrell Hatton, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Robert MacIntyre, Martin Kaymer, Danny Willett, and defending champion Victor Perez.
Admission is FREE for spectators over the first three days. Final day tickets for the Old Course St Andrews on Sunday, October 3, are available for £20 (Concessions £15). Please note that because of covid regulations, spectator capacity on each course will be capped at 4,000 on each of the four days. Entry will only be permitted to ticket holders. Tickets will still be needed for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday, even though there is no charge. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
