Dizzy Heights for Tranent Active Schools Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing becoming a huge success with Tranent Active Schools

Rock Climbing

Active Schools has now run more Rock Climbing classes this term, than any other term before. It is proving to be a huge success with many children moving on to other classes with more experienced climbers.

Originally there was one class on a Friday afternoon, but the Complete Beginners doubled in size when new coach, Debbie came on board and helped open up another Thursday class to allow twice as many children to experience the Climbing Wall.

The wall itself, managed by enjoyleisure from their base at the Loch Centre, is 25 foot high and provides the perfect opportunity to get children into climbing. With 10 belay points there is plenty room for plenty to get involved down at the facility in Forrester Park.

Not just climbing, they will also learn how to work with a partner and be their eyes from below and work in pairs to get as high up the wall as possible, including learning how to help belay each other. The coaches also manage to throw in a few fun games as well.

If you would like to get involved in Rock Climbing then either get in touch with your Active schools Coordinator or the Loch Centre at their website; http://www.enjoyleisure.com/centre.aspx?comp_id=5
