East Lothian Schools Golf Order of Merit

2024 Schools Golf OofM Final

The final 2023/24 East Lothian Schools Order of Merit Event was held at The Renaissance, host course of the 2024 Scottish Open, on Monday 20th May 2024.   The order of merit is open to players that live in East Lothian that have an official handicap.

46 local juniors competed in 14 counting events between September and May in all weathers!  Well done to all 28 players that qualified to compete in the final based on their position in the Scratch Division of the Order of Merit.

Huge thanks to the Renaissance Club for kindly hosting us as they prepare to host the Genesis Scottish Open 11th - 14th July. Thanks also to the parents that kindly ball spotted and helped to ensure all players got round in good time.  Click here for full results from the competition at The Renaissance.

Scratch Division @ The Renaissance Congratulations to Ryan Pirie (Knox Academy/Haddington Golf Club) who won the Scratch Division with 34 points and beat Jack Collingswood (North Berwick High School/North Berwick West Links Juniors) into 2nd place by just 1 point.

Handicap Division @ The Renaissance Congratulations also to Jack Cleeton (Musselburgh Grammar/Musselburgh Old GC) who won the Handicap Division, for the first time, with a very impressive handicap breaking 41 points and beating Archie Brownlee (Knox Academy/Haddington GC) into 2nd place again by only 1 point.

202324 East Lothian Final Order of Merit Results

Yesterday’s event at The Renaissance was the final counting event in the 2023/24 Junior Golf Order of Merit  which was played over 14 events hosted by Winterfield, Gifford, Haddington, Musselburgh Old, North Berwick, Gullane, The Glen, Royal Musselburgh, Kilspindie, Longniddry and Renaissance Golf Clubs.  Huge thanks to all of the clubs that hosted us, ensuring we could offer local playing opportunities on their courses free of charge to support junior golf in East Lothian. The summer will now seem like a breeze in comparison to the weather we’ve had in the last 9 months!

Junior Golf East Lothian Order of Merit Scratch Division Winner  - Congratulations to Andrew Irvine (West Links Juniors/Dunbar Grammar) who is the winner of the Scratch Division.  Andrew beat Ryan Pirie (Haddington GC / Knox) into 2nd.  Andrew won 4 events, came 2nd in 3 and was never out of the top 5 in any of the events he played in so is a very worthy winner.

Junior Golf East Lothian Order of Merit Handicap Division Winner - Congratulations also to Cameron Brown (Kilspindie/Ross HS) who is the winner of the Handicap Division beating Archie Brownlee (Knox Academy/HaddingtonGolf Club) into a very close 2nd.  Cameron also came 5th in the Scratch Division as well so has done well in both divisions.

We now bid a very fond farewell all the 6th years leaving the junior programme this year including Andrew Irvine, Jack Collingswood, Ben Austin, Adam MacDonald, Kate Thomson, Lewis Cleeton, Joseph Armstrong and Angus Waddell. We will be sad to lose you all and would like to thank them all for supporting our local events and inspiring our younger juniors.  We wish you all the very best of luck in next chapter of your lives.
