Sportif Judo and Active Schools work together to create new opportunities to try the sport
Active Schools and Sportif Judo have once again come together to give children in the Tranent Cluster the opportunity to take part in Judo at the Loch Centre in Tranent. Sportif Judo run their club at the Loch Centre from 4.15pm right through the evening with classes form Primary 1-3 right through to their adult and elite squad.
Active Schools have helped to promote a new taster class from 3.30pm – 4.15pm, which is free of charge and lets every child have a go at Judo before committing to the club for regular training sessions.
Sportif Judo has a great reputation with many National Champions coming from their classes in East Lothian and the Borders. One of these athletes, who grew up in Pencaitland, even managed to make the Olympics in Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
The classes, led by Judo Peter Gardiner, who has reached the Grade of 6th Dan, and has also worked as the Director of coaching at Judoscotland and the Director of Development at British Judo. Active Schools are honoured to have such high profile coaches working with us to develop Judo in the local area.
