North Berwick High School pupils successfully complete the Scottish FA Level 1.1 Development Activities coach education course.

Students of the Game

12 Senior Pupils attended the 2 day course as part of the core secondary school programme held at Recreation Park 3G in North Berwick.

The Development Activities course is the first steps on the Scottish FA Main/Youth Coach Education Pathway and is split between theory and practical content.

Some of the theory covers topics such as the role of the coach, running a team, positive coaching, child protection and developing talent. The practical looks at 7 themes from warm ups, control, moving with the ball, finishing, possession through to games and micro sessions and how to deliver them within a training session.

The attitude from the pupils was first class on both days of the course and they will now go on to gain more coaching experience by taking the school teams or working with the local community clubs.

Well done to the following pupils who gained the qualification, hopefully we will see you soon on the Level 1.2 course, and special thanks to Modern Studies teacher Gordon Docherty for his support in organising the facility and registrations.

Cameron Alexander, Nick Allan, Benjamin Cunningham, Finlay Goodlad, Cameron Gordon, Lewis Grant, Michael Hagan, Callum Inglis, Jason Samson, Brodie Stewart, Ethan Telfer and Jack Withers.
