Tranent Colts Rwanda Appeal 2016

Tranent Colts Football Club are set to be involved in an extremely exciting and rewarding experience this year.

Tranent Colts Rwanda Appeal

A delegation from the club plan to visit a number of schools and communities in Rwanda to deliver football sessions to people who will really benefit from this opportunity. This can make a real difference to young Rwandans lives, who can use football as a catalyst for change, and the club are looking forward to developing this exciting partnership.

The club will also be taking old club kit, including boots from the club's boot bank, to distribute to the children in Rwanda.

East Lothian Council already has pre-existing links with Rwanda since they hosted representatives from the Rwandan Commonwealth Games team in 2014 and the ongoing legacy is a continuing partenership which aims to provide better outcomes for people from both countries.

The club are appealing to everyone who may be able to help with their fundraising efforts to ensure this can happen and as you can appreciate there are significant costs involved and they want to assist the volunteers with the expense on this trip (travel, accomodation, inoculations etc).

The primary theme of the trip may be football but the significance for the communities in Tranent, East Lothian and Rwanda goes far beyond this. During their stay they will also help with local building projects which will benefit Rwandans of all ages and learn first hand of the genocide attrocities of 1994.

If any individuals or businesses would like to help in their efforts for a fantastic cause please do not hesitate to get in touch with Phil Purves (Club Chair) on 07980 373758 or Wendy McFadden (Fundraising Officer) on 07800 879662.
