Active Schools Mini Kickers at Port Seton Centre

Ative Schools Mini Kickers get new strips

New stars have been born at a historic youth football club. A group of almost 30 youngsters – from nursery to primary 3 age – are now affiliated to Cockenzie Star FC. The boys and girls, from Cockenzie Primary School, came together under the East Lothian Council Active Schools Programme. Head coach Vanda Dow (pictured with the youngsters and her fellow coaches) started organising Saturday morning sessions four years ago at the Port Seton Centre. Now the youngsters – grateful to sponsors such as Stephanie May from iDance Scotland and the Wemyss Hotel – hope to play matches against other clubs. It is hoped that these youngsters can help the club – and the Active Schools initiative in the area – thrive for years to come.

Paul Lavery, Active Schools Coordinator for Preston Lodge Primary Cluster, would like to thank Vanda Dow for all her hard work and enthusiasm in running the mini kickers club. He would also like to thank Wemyss Hotel and iDance Scotland (Another Acitve Schools partner club) for their donations, as well as the East Lothian Courier for running the story.
