Badminton Bronze for Rachel!

Bronze medal delight for East Lothian youngster at the European U15 Championships in Russia.

There was bronze medal delight for an East Lothian youngster at the European U15 Championships in Russia last week end.

Rachel Cameron from Musselburgh claimed bronze alongside Rachel Sugden in the girls doubles event at the Championships held in Kazan.

The pair reached the last four without dropping a game in any of there three matches and secured a place on the podium with a 21/19 22/20 win over Vivien Sandorhazi and Kitti Scotak of Hungary. They then faced top seeds Christine Busch Andreason and Mathil- de Cramer Ahrens but were beaten 21/9 21/15 and had to settle for bronze.

East Lothian Badminton Development Officer Christine Black was delighted with Rachel’s performance in her first major event which will put her in good stead for future championships.
