East Lothian badminton players further success at Scottish Schools U16!
East Lothian badminton players enjoyed further success recently at the Scottish Schools U16 Level Doubles Championships held recently at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre. Aberlady’s Ewan Mathieson (Stewart Melville) won two titles teaming up with Preston Lodge pupil James Morgan in the boys doubles and North Berwick High School pupil Jyoti Arbuckle in the mixed doubles.
Mathieson and Morgan won all 5 matches in the boy’s doubles with their hardest match of the day against Danny Robson and Callum String from Lanark Grammar School. The East Lothian duo won the first set comfortably 21/14 but the Lanarkshire pair fought hard and edged the second set 22/20. In the third set Mathieson and Morgan controlled the game and won the set comfortably 21/13 to win the Boys doubles title.
Mathieson was back on court for his second final of the day with Jyoti Arbuckle for the mixed doubles final, where they won all their matches comfortably to lift the U16 title.
