Gifford Cricket Club's Richard Bogie receives Last Man Stands Volunteer Award.
Last Man Stands Volunteer Award Winners 2014
Cricket Scotland was extremely proud to celebrate the achievements of some of our brilliant volunteers at the Scotland v New Zealand A fixture at the Grange. Despite the inclement weather, we hosted our 6 Last Man Stands Volunteer Award Winners to acknowledge their huge contribution to cricket in Scotland.
Apart from being the driving force of Gifford Cricket Club, Richard (third from right) is also a volunteer coach and administrator for the newly formed East Lothian County Cricket Club, which provides a transition for young cricketers to hardball cricket. Under 11 and under 13 boys and girls from all over East Lothian play together as a team in the Edinburgh and Lothians Junior Leagues and it has been great to see the camaraderie develop between players from different areas in our county by playing cricket together.
Richard looks after the under 13s and has created a fun and positive environment for all involved, with a focus on learning new skills, sportsmanship and making sure everyone gets a chance to contribute to the team effort.
Apart from all the above, Richard will happily help with transport and taxi players around the county and he will always try to re-schedule work commitments to fit around junior cricket – now that’s commitment!
