Tranent Schools receive Tennis Sessions with help from the Food Standards Agency
This term the Tranent Cluster has been very lucky to have East Lothian’s very own Tennis Development Officer, Stuart Brown, to come into each school and provide free Tennis sessions based around Healthy Eating and Hygiene.
Tennis was delivered in 8 out of the 9 schools within the Tranent Cluster, with the main aim of the session to have as much fun as possible while learning key skills and techniques used in Tennis, while learning about Healthy Eating in the process.
Stuart visited every school for the first session of the 6 week block, with the school teachers leading the next 4 weeks, and finally Stuart re-visited in the last week to tie up the programme.
Every child involved learned new tennis skills, including the difference between Forehand and Backhand, and also fun skills like, how to take 10 people with tennis raquets and balls and create a "Tennis Sandwich".
Well Done to everyone involved with the sessions, both Active Schools and Sports Development were very impressed with the quality of tennis being played.
If you are interested in playing Tennis more regularly or need more information, contact Stuart by emailing him at: sbrown2@eastlothian.gov.uk or speak to your local Active Schools Coordinator.
