Mid / East Primary School Championships
Longniddry Primary pupil Freya Morris and Dunbar Primary pupil Gregor Ronan were both crowned Mid & East Lothian Primary Schools singles champions at the badminton tournament held recently at Meadowmill Sports Centre.
In the girls’ singles it was a repeat of last year’s final with Freya up against Law Primary pupil Lois Turnbull. After a very closely contested match Freya retained her title winning 21/19 to take gold, silver to Lois and bronze medals to Rachel Broadley (Kings Meadow) and Jess Rae (Law).
Lois got her revenge in the girls’ doubles when she teamed up with Jess Rae (Law) to win gold against Longniddry Primary duo Freya Morris and Emily Tait.
Gregor Ronan continued his successful year when he took gold in the boys’ singles winning a hard fought match 21-17 against fellow Dunbar Primary pupil Euan Campbell, and bronze medals going to Adam Barnes (Dunbar) and Lewis Cunningham (Mayfield).
It was an all Dunbar Primary final in the boys’ doubles when Ronan and Campbell teamed up together to win 21-11 and take gold against Adam Barnes and Findlay Thomson.
East Lothian Badminton Development Officer Christine black would like to thank coaches, parents and Secondary pupils for all their assistance throughout the tournament.
