Annette Fox, Head Coach at Gullane Tennis Club is delighted to announce that the club has formed a partnership with Gullane Primary School, to develop and provide opportunities for all children and young people to get involved in the game. Schools give most children their first experience of sport and their early experience can often determine whether they stay in the game.
Speaking about the partnership, Annette Fox said, “I've thoroughly enjoyed providing Mini Tennis taster sessions to 213 children (Primary 1 - Primary 7) during March, giving a short, fun and exciting introduction to tennis. As well as increasing our club membership levels, linking with our local school can also increase the number of young volunteers, leaders and officials in the club. It gives us a great opportunity to promote the club and raise awareness in the local community, whilst giving the children a fantastic taste of the sport we all love."
Stuart Brown, East Lothian Tennis Development Officer, added, "The link that Annette has established with Gullane Primary is fantastic and it is exactly this type of school-club engagement that will help in getting more people playing tennis more often, helping our sport to grow and our clubs to flourish. It is great for the club and great for the school. Gullane Tennis Club is a real success story and one that Annette and the club should extremely proud of."
