Local club takes National Club Boxing Award

East Lothian Amateur Boxing Club has recieved "club of the year" at national award ceremony.

East Lothian Amateur boxing club

East Lothian Amateur Boxing Club has become the latest East Lothian club to pick up a national award by winning “ Club of the Year Award 2012-2013”. They were presented with the award on Sunday 7th July at the Amateur Boxing Scotland Awards Ceremony at Ravenscraig. This award is in recognition of all their achievements this season. 

The club achieved an unpresidented 12 medals at District and National level.

The Club has currently 23 Registered boxers including 2 females supported by 8 coaches, all who have been through the Amateur Boxing Scotland coaching courses. With the registered boxers and non-boxers who attend the club it will have approx 80-100 members who go through the doors each week.

The club is also in the fortunate position to have 3 judges/referees, all who are currently active and judge at many the district shows and National Championships.

I would like to thank all involved with the club for your commitment, hard work and fantastic team effort. Our Club will continue to grow with your support and we can be optimistic for the future. The club would also like to congratulate the other 9 recipient's for winning their respective awards. Well done to all.

Keen to continually develop East Lothian ABC meet Amateur Boxing Scotlands, Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR). This ensures that the club meets with health and safety regulation, complies with child protection and all administration and insurances are in place. Making it a better and safer environment to train in and to be associated with the club.

The club has also been involved with local schools and clubs, giving taster sessions, promoting boxing and encouraging others to get involved with sport and fitness. 

They are also involved with the Haddington Community Sports Hub and are currently working as part of the “friends of the Neilson park” group.

A real tribute and shining example of a successful local club gaining recognition on a national scale.
