Law Primary pupils Lois Turnbull and Finlay Jack were both crowned Mid & East Lothian Primary Schools Badminton Champions at the tournament held recently at Meadowmill Sports Centre.
In the girls’ singles it was third time lucky for Lois Turnbull having taken silver medals in the two previous finals but this year the tables were turned when she became Mid and East Primary School Champion winning the final 21/12 against Dunbar Primary pupil Katie Taylor to win her first gold medal.
Katie Taylor reached her second final in the girls’ doubles when she teamed up with Kate Thomson (Dunbar Primary) to win gold against St Mary’s Primary duo Scarlett Oswald and Niamh Robertson.
In the boys singles Law Primary pupil Finlay Jack surprised everyone firstly at the semi final stages beating top seed Andrew Morgan (Longniddry Primary) 21/16 followed by another fine win beating second seed Ben Riddle (Law) 21/15 to win his first title.
In the boys’ doubles final Ben Riddle and Harry Bent teamed up to win gold against the Longniddry Primary pairing Daniel Moos and Andrew Morgan.
