#Merewether HS Due @RossHigh

Our friends from Down Under, Merewether H.S. are due to land in Scotland on the 9th January.

#Merewether HS

Since 2007 pupils and staff from Merewether H.S., Newcastle, Australia have visited Ross High in Tranent.

Initially the four day visit included a number of social events and a Under 18's rugby match against the Ross High RFC Colts team.

Merewether HS enjoyed themselves so much they returned two years later, and have done so every two years.

That weekend has grown to include, Ross High School, Ross High Ladies Hockey Club, Portobello RFC, Under 18's Hockey and Under 18's Netball.

Their arrival on Friday 9th January marks their fifth visit to our small town.

When you consider their month long world trip includes, London, Edinburgh, Harrogate, Manchester, Marlow, Windsor and Paris, it is with a lot of pride that they choose to return to Tranent with each trip.

Whilst with us, they shall stay with our families, visit Edinburgh Castle, enjoy Scottish hospitality in the Ross High RFC Clubhouse, Ross High School and with their Scottish hosts.

The sports starts on Saturday morning, with the Netball competing at 10am in the Ross HS Games Hall, the hockey starts at 12pm on the Ross HS ASTRO pitch, and the Rugby at 3pm on the Ross HS playing fields.

Following the competitions, the real business of touring begins, as the pupils (and staff) dance the night away in the rugby club.

A restful day on Sunday follows, perhaps some shopping, pool and singing in the rugby club.

Before we bid farewell to our guests on Monday 12th January.

Whilst all this is going on, we are also hosting Knox Academy Un 13's & Un 14's Rugby teams, Dunbar G.S. S1, S2 & Un 15's Hockey Teams, Craigmount HS Un 13;s Football team, and our Un 16's Rugby team travel to Knox Academy for their own match.

A SUPER SATURDAY of SPORT if there ever was one at Ross High School, Tranent.  Why not get yourself along to watch the matches, and cheer on the Sottish lassies and laddies!

Huge thank you to the Scottish parents, Ross High ladies Hockey Club, Ross High RFC, Portobello RFC and all the volunteers involved.
