North Berwick Colts brought SFA Coach Education courses to a place near home by organising Level 1.1 and Level 1.2 courses for their own club coaches and ELSSDA team coaches at Recreation Park.
Part of the reason for this is it can be difficult for coaches to attend courses from the national calendar with all the other commitments they have with running a team, work and travel etc.
If the club has enough demand for putting coaches through certain courses then the East Lothian Football Development Officer will come and deliver the course specifically to meet your clubs needs at a suitable venue near you.
17 of the Colts coaches successfully gained the Early Touches Level 1.1 award and 12 then went on to gain the Coaching Young Footballers Level 1.2 award on the SFA Children’s Pathway.
The club has been making positive strides forward recently with Community Club Officer Darren Dods also delivering work with the club for the next 3 months as part of the new McDonalds Coach Mentoring programme helping them to build a club philosophy and to develop the coaches.
With the fantastic 3G facilities at Recreation Park that the club has access to and the Community Club Officer in place to support them, there has been a great surge of enthusiasm at the club to continue to grow and develop the work the coaches do which is very pleasing to see.
If your club is looking to run a SFA Coach Education Course between Level 1.1 – 1.3 on the Children’s or Main/Youth Pathway then please contact Sean McAuley, East Lothian Football Development Officer.
