The second round of fixtures from the Tranent PTS competition got underway with Ormiston, St Martins RC and Sandersons Wynd all in action
The first ever season of PTS football in Tranent is now in full swing and the 2nd Round of fixtures took place at Ross High School under the floodlights.
With 16 goals across 5 games, it was certainly entertaining, and kept supporters and coaches cheering all the way. Although even with so many goals, it was still 2 of the goal-keepers which stood out amongst the rising stars. Aaron Weatherhead and Adam Halliday (both Sandersons Wynd) pulled off some incredible saves, with at least 2 or 3 shots in each game, seemingly destined for the top corner of the goal, but for a full stretched hand from the super-keepers.
The match up of the evening came when both Ormiston and St Martins took to the field. No goals at half time for either team set up a tense finale and both teams moved the ball from one end to the other as quick as a flash. A draw would have perhaps been the fairest of results, but a miss-cued clearance from a St Martin’s defender put the ball past his own keeper and the own goal settled the tie is Ormistons favour.
The full list of results are as follows;
Sandersons Wynd (1) 0 v 6 Ormiston Primary
Ormiston 0 v 0 Sandersons Wynd (2)
St Martins RC 3 v 0 Sandersons Wynd (1)
St Martins 0 v 1 Ormiston
