Seven gymnasts from Saltire Team Gymnastics compete for a place in the GB team for the European Teamgym Championships
On Sunday 1st May, seven gymnasts from Saltire Team Gymnastics travelled to Bracknell, England to compete in the Inter-zonal Teamgym competition in a bid to gain a spot on the Great Britain team for the European Teamgym Championships to be held in Slovenia this October.
Over the last 12 months Fraser McLeod, Dylan Campbell, Kendal Smith, Katie Vince, Lara Craig, Sandy Wallace and Adam Souter (pictured above) have travelled around the country attending training camps along with the other gymnasts who were selected to be a part of the North zonal squad. They have also been working within their own training sessions with the club to improve their skills and prepare for the competition where they would compete against teams from the South zonal squad.

The first section of the day saw all teams perform their floor routines in front of a panel of judges along with the selection committee. After lunch the teams moved to the tumble and trampette to perform some amazing skills. Up against some strong competition from the South gymnasts, some of whom had previously competed at European Championships, the teams from the North stormed the competition and won in three out of the four sections.
Huge congratulations to the gymnasts from Saltire, who now wait to hear who the selection committee have chosen to be a part of the GB team for the European Championships!
