Local gymnasts from Saltire Team Gymnastics confirmed as a part of Team GB for the European Teamgym Championships.

After 15 months of training camps and phases of selection, seven gymnasts from Saltire Team Gymnastics have been selected as part of Team GB to compete at the European Teamgym Championships in Maribor, Slovenia this October.
The club, based at Meadowmill Sports Centre, East Lothian, has supported the gymnasts through the programme of training camps and is thrilled that all seven gymnasts have been selected for the event. Head coach Margaret Kerr said
“The club are so proud of the achievements of these gymnasts and work the club’s coaches have put in to helping them achieve this. This is the first time a GB squad has been formed for Teamgym and for the club to have seven gymnasts representing at this level is fantastic.”
Over the next few weeks prior to the Championships, the gymnasts have three more training camps around the country from Newcastle to London. As Teamgym is not an Olympic discipline, the gymnasts are required to fully fund all of their training camps as well as the trip to the Slovenia. Over the last year or so, this has been a huge commitment from families with the club supporting where it can, however the gymnasts are looking to raise £1000 each to cover the costs of travelling to Maribor.
