Trampoline & DMT Teams Spring to Success in Portugal

Gymnasts from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club see great success in Portugal

11 gymnasts from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club took part in the 8^th Loule Cup in the Algarve Portugal, 4^th-8^th September. This event was the Clubs first International competition, taking place together with the 4^th Loule World Cup.  24 countries, represented by 55 clubs, participated in the even,t and CETC gymnasts had the opportunity to compete alongside gymnasts who had taken part in the 2012 London Olympics!

The transition to an International event, and acclimatising to a non-air conditioned hall in the Portuguese summer, was the first hurdle to overcome. The gymnasts handled this well, and gave some of the best performances of their trampoline/DMT careers - many completing their hardest difficulty routines and passes. Three of the gymnasts (*) had never even taken part in a British Competition before!

CETC had 10 gymnasts compete in the Individual Trampoline events.

The results were as follows:

U13 Female: *Orla Donlevy  14^th, *Molly Short  18^th

13-14 Female: Natasha Hoffmann 30^th, *Jenny Anton 35^th

Junior Female: Ciara Donlevy 22^nd, Caitlin O’Brien 31^st

Senior Women: Lauren Millar 13^th, Kirsty Beaton 16^th, Lauren Jamieson 20^th, Kirsteen Bowie 22^nd

CETC also had 10 gymnasts in the Double-Mini-Trampoline (DMT) events. The results were as follows:

U13 Female: *Molly Short 4^th in final, * Orla Donlevy 19^th

13-14 Female:  Natasha Hoffmann 9^th, *Jenny Anton 17^th

Junior Female: Caitlin O’Brien 2^nd = (taking the silver medal), Ciara Donlevy 4^th – both in finals

Senior Women: Lauren Millar 7^th in final, Lauren Jamieson 14^th, Kirsteen Bowie 15^th, Kayleigh Jeffrey 16^th

Excellent results from CETC, with an Individual silver medal in the Junior Girls. CETC “A” Team qualified for the DMT team finals in 5^th place, and after a very tense final round managed to secure 3^rd place, taking home the bronze medal (see photo!), with Canada in 2^nd and Portugal in 1^st.
