The annual John Home Robertson Primary Schools Football Festival was a great success, 12 boys teams & 5 girls teams participated this year. The weather , relented and although not warm, a good day was had by all.

The girls kicked off the Festival  in the morning  and following the round robin games, Stoneyhill & Kings Meadow reached the final. Having drawn there sectional game a close encounter was anticipated and we were not disappointed. The first goal was scored by Stoneyhills Rebecca Wilson when she scored with a low shot. They increased their lead in the second half through Ellie Taylor with another low shot to the corner. Kings Meadow responded and following a prolonged attack were rewarded when Jade Stenhouse scored from close range. That was in the dying seconds and they only had time for the restart before time was up. Score:  Stoneyhill 2 Kings Meadow 1

Twelve boys teams participated in the Afternoon, three sections of 4 teams commenced action with the thee section winners & best runner up qualifying for the semi-finals. The section winners were Stoneyhill ,Windygoul & Campie, with Prestonpans finishing second to Campie just pipping Kings meadow for the best runner up spot on goal difference.

Semi-Finals: Campie v Stoneyhill This was a very good game with some decent skills being shown. Campie scored the vital first goal through Jason Jarvis and although Stoneyhill responded, they found themselves 2-0 down with a good turn & left foot shot from Dillon Brown.  Stoneyhill were stunned  and gave there all in a frantic finish , but just could not find a way to score. Score: Campie 2 Stoneyhill 0

The Final:  Campie v Windygoul Two proud teams contested the final and the crowd were not disappointed. Campie with Jason  Jarvis & Dillon Brown showing up well, just edged this final and they combined to score the first goal, Jarvis firing home from 16 yards. A second goal from Jarvis from a similar distance made it an uphill struggle for Windygoul. However they kept pushing forward and were rewarded with a goal from Cameron McBeth which was just too late, the final whistle coming shortly after. Score: Campie 2 Windygoul 1
