Basia's off to the Olympics

Basia\'s Olympic trip

Twelve year old North Berwick school pupil Basia Grodynska is celebrating as one of six National Junior Squad players to be selected by BADMINTONscotland through an open ballot to be given a lifetime experience of a trip to 2012 Olympics.

The six players plus three coaches who travel to Milton Keynes on Sunday 29th July will have this fantastic opportunity to take part in a training session during their visit and then attend two Olympic badminton sessions at Wembley Arena on the 30th and 31st July.

During the trip the players will be given the opportunity to watch some of the world’s top players including our two Scottish players Imogen Bankier and Susan Egelstaff who are both in Team GB.

The players will also be involved in keeping video and written blogs of their experience. It is hoped that the trip will not only be inspirational and motivating for the players but will also give the players an insight into what it is like to compete in a multi-sport event.

To say the players are excited about attending the Olympics is a huge understatement but it is hoped that the tremendous achievements of both Imogen and Susan may instil in a number of Scottish Juniors the belief that they may one day be selected for Team GB at an Olympic Games.
